OUTDOOR FIELD HOCKEY

Outdoor Field Hockey can be played on a grass field or a turf field. The game of field hockey is played between two teams of eleven players including the goalie.  A typical line up for Field Hockey includes forwards, midfielders, and defenders.  In today’s game of field hockey you will see a variety of systems played with varying numbers of forwards, midfields, and defenders. While playing outdoor field hockey, you can hit, sweep, push, flick, chip, or aerial the ball.  In today’s game having 3-D skills adds a whole other level to your game!  The game is played globally, and was originated in Europe.  Overseas it is actually a more popular sport for males.

Field Hockey is a very competitive sport that is growing in interest in the United States.  You will now see kids (boys and girls) as young as 5 years old starting field hockey just like you see in youth soccer or t-ball.  The younger you start with field hockey, the easier it will be when you get into your high school days!  Field hockey is a team sport, but individual play is also important.  While playing in a field hockey game for 60 minutes, you can run anywhere between 4 to 7 miles meaning you need to be physically fit!  Field hockey can open many different doors in your life, whether it is traveling to another country to play, going to a tournament in another state, earning a college scholarship or just making friends from different states or countries.

My 2 daughters play with PA Elite, U-19 and U-14. They both had exceptional experiences in indoor field hockey!! It was fun for them, great camaraderie  and at the same time their skills developed immensely. The coaches really take their time to help develop the players. Can't wait for next season!!!
